We are asking you to help ensure that WIA and Employment Service funding are fully restored in the federal FY 2009 budget. According to the PA State WIB, many members of Congress are claiming that they do not hear from their constituents in workforce development. With the severe decline in WIA and Employment Service funding over the last six years and rescissions to be implemented in the coming months, the local workforce system cannot continue to sustain funding cuts and rescissions and still maintain vital employment and training services.
We are asking you to generate letters as employers and/or Industry Partnership members who rely upon WIA funds and programs to help you and your employees compete more effectively.
We have provided several templates for the employers to use. The documents are available in the document section on the left or by clicking here.
1. From employer/Industry Partnership member to congressman in their district (template WIA-Ltr-Employers-7)
2. From employer/Industry Partnership member to all PA Congressmen (template WIA-Ltr-Employers-8)
3. From employer/Industry Partnership member to congressional committee chairs (template WIA-Ltr-Employers-9).
Also enclosed is a spreadsheet of contact information for each US Representative and Senator.
Letters can be faxed or sent by regular mail, or if the Member has an email address an email can be sent.
Thank you in advance for your efforts on this! We understand that it might be a little work but it is vitally important to the future of workforce funding in our region, in PA and across the nation.
Thanks again for your attention to this matter.
